TO REST ON PEACEFUL WATER

Installation images from my contribution to Changing Spaces: The 2025 MFA Thesis Exhbition at the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH.

This body of work centers on contemporary structures of entrapment and deception by studying decoy duck ponds found throughout Europe between the 15th and 20th centuries. These man-made landscapes act as portals to understand the predator/prey relationship, and what it means to be defenseless. What can we learn by meditating on moments of capture, evasion, and surrender? How is transformation and liberation possible in a time when stable narratives seem to be collapsing around us? Through installation and other forms of image creation, I hope to contemplate the traps we may find ourselves in, the care with which we might navigate these snares, and the collective effort required to dismantle them.
